Please return the Parent/Guardian Evening form to your child’s class teacher as soon as possible – all details are on the form.
There will be no Parent/Guardian Evening for Dosbarth Cwningen as sadly for us Mrs Evans has been successful at interview and will be taking up a role in another school after the half term break. Instead, Mrs Evans is currently writing individual Reports for the children in her class and these will be sent home next week. Rest assured that I’m looking at teacher cover and consistency for the class and will be able to share a name with you next week. A loss for our school, but I’m delighted that Mrs Evans’ talents have been recognised and that she will be a permanent member of staff in another school – if only we were allowed to give out more contracts!
Please may I also take this opportunity to thank the vast majority of families who ensure that their children are in school on time and every day. To ensure this remains our priority, Mrs McEwan- Williams will be contacting the handful of parents/carers who continue to bring their child(ren) to school late most days to attend a meeting at school as soon as possible. I will also attend these meetings to see whether there is more we can do to help, or whether it can be sorted out by the family in some way. Any children late for school need to be signed in by a family member or agreed adult over the age of 18 years; along with the reason for lateness, please.
It has been another exciting and very settled week, with staff and children settling into whole-school routines and fun!
I pride myself on always aiming to be being positive and finding the good in life and situations. Unfortunately, I have had reports of a few situations recently where school staff have been spoken to aggressively and in one instance quite personal remarks have been made. We are all human and this has been hurtful and upsetting. My team and I work here because we want to do the very best for you and your children. Whatever the situation or issue is, even if you feel that we are in the wrong, please talk to us calmly. We will always try our best. We have a policy in place to issue warnings for persistently inappropriate behaviour towards staff and it would really upset me to need to use it. To keep this in perspective, these incidents have been very few, we have a FANTASTIC relationship with our families and want to move forward positively to ensure this friendly and helpful ethos remains.
